Google warns against Chrome extensions to Edge
Following the introduction of Microsoft’s Chromium Edge Browser-based Google, Google intervenes in the installation of extensions.
Google is warning users who want to move extensions they are using in Chrome to Microsoft’s new browser for a possible security flaw. The way it does this , is with a message in the Chrome Web Store, when it is realized that trying to install an extension on Edge instead of Google Chrome.
Google notes in its announcement that it recommends installing extensions in Chrome rather than Edge, “for security reasons” as it typically does, without going into details. It should be noted that this warning does not in any way affect the process or capability of installing extensions to Edge, since the updated Microsoft browser is based on the same structure on which Google was created.
Microsoft, on the other hand, was aiming to stop Google’s search engine from being used for Bing’s sake, and Microsoft had also warned against using Google Chrome in Windows 10 in the past. This rivalry between Microsoft and Google is well known, but analysts agree that the final decision to avoid or not a service is always made by the user.
